This project was to create a Door Lock that could be operated using  password instead of the traditional key system for the households.So as a prototype we designed a lock with a sliding crank mechanism and used perspex to build the enclosure for the lock. Using Atmel328p  microprocessor we were able to get the password from the user for the first time and store it and also to check for the validity of the password.A LCD was used for the user interface in the prototype.

Before the project we wanted to know the demands of the market and also the willingness of the people to buy this product, so a user need survey was conducted to know the expectations of the customers and based on the results of the survey, we had to make some modifications to the product like adding a fingerprint sensor for the lock along with the password system.
